Breast cancer is the most common cancer among American women. Today, approximately 1 in almost every 8 women (13.4%) will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. Breast cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer death in women  -- and is the leading cause of cancer death among women ages 35 to 54.
